FleetEV’s commitment to community engagement and future skills development was showcased this week as its Lead Engineer, Kurtis Chivers, visited Willows High School in Cardiff to speak with students about careers in information technology, artificial intelligence, and the future of electric vehicles (EVs).
Organised in partnership with Careers Wales, the session welcomed over 30 Year 11 students. Based at FleetEV’s Cardiff office, Kurtis shared insights into the rapidly evolving EV sector and the increasing role of digital and sustainable technologies.
Topics covered during the session included:
Electric vehicle technology and supporting charging infrastructure
The growing impact of artificial intelligence on future innovation
Career pathways in technology and engineering, particularly within the EV sector
By offering real-world examples and engaging directly with students’ questions, the session aimed to inspire young people to consider careers in emerging technology-driven industries.
Kurtis Chivers, Lead Engineer at FleetEV, said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to speak with students who are curious about how technology is shaping the future. The EV and AI sectors are moving fast, and there are huge opportunities for young people who are interested in problem-solving, sustainability and innovation.”
FleetEV is passionate about giving young people meaningful exposure to technology and engineering careers, particularly those aligned with sustainability and net zero goals. This visit marked FleetEV’s first engagement with Willows High School, forming part of the company’s growing focus on supporting education and early career awareness within the communities it operates.
FleetEV thanked Careers Wales and Willows High School for the opportunity to engage with students and praised Kurtis for being an excellent ambassador for the business and the wider EV industry.
